We are very excited to be collaborating with our friend, local artist Alan Ewart, and local mechanic Total Car Care, on a one-day-only pop up garage sale (get it? Because it's in a garage!) in Paddington, Sydney.
Helping host will be two gorgeously crafted cars worked by Total Car Care's Andrew Brundu's own hands — one Bufori Madison, handmade in Sydney in the 1970s, and another a specially modified stretch Moke.
Join us to purchase original artworks by the talented Alan, starting at as little as $80, and cushions and more from us, all at our pre-Christmas sale price. There'll be a place to sit and chat with the makers and the artist, and if you're there later in the day, you may even get a glass of wine — we're good hosts, after all!
Find Total Car Care at 152 Boudary Street, Paddington, 2021. The sale is from 11am–7pm.
That's right, it's our first store-wide sale! We've taken 15% off everything Scallywag — from cushions to pot holders, robes to chairs.
The sale applies online and at The Makery in Sydney's Darlinghurst, and runs from today, Monday 16 November, right up until Christmas day, 2015.
So if you've been eyeing something off, now's the time! And it makes existing deals even better — if you buy all three Hairspiration cushions, you're saving almost 25% off what you would pay individually! So get shopping!
It's been a long time coming, but The Scallywag Society couldn't be more excited to welcome PopHeavy to the mix. PopHeavy is a Sydney-based neo-pop artist, and is the perfect fit for our first range of exclusive, original-to-cushions designs.
Our first collaboration with the artist is the 3 Degrees of Hairspiration series, which includes Tom Hearts a V-Neck, Permanent Babs, and Wookie Mojo, all celebrating the hairy icons that are Tom Selleck, Barbra Streisand, and Chewbacca.
Find more info on their individual product pages, and if you love more than one you can get a great deal for a pair, or even the fabulous threesome!
For four weeks from June 2 you can find The Scallywag Society at The Makery, a collaborative ‘market within a shop’ on Darlinghurst’s Oxford Street. Want to try before you buy? Now you can!
On show will be a selection of our products, including fruits of the Sydney Film Festival collaboration, and cheeky Alexander Henry cushions, chairs, robes and pot holders.
We don’t have room to showcase our entire range, so if you are after something in particular get in touch first and we’ll make sure we have it there for you to check out. But there will be a great selection rotated throughout.
The Makery also features a range of other products from a number of local makers, so it’s a great spot to drop in and check out. Plus it’s super conveniently located at 106 Oxford St, Darlinghurst (on the corner of Palmer Street.)
They’re open six days, and you’ll find more information on their website. Make sure you swing by, check out The Scallywag Society display (including those awesome chairs you can’t buy online!), and browse the great selection.
Plus, want to read a bit more about us? The Makery have a blog up featuring a dozen questions from the founders!
Tues – Fri 11am–7pm
Well, not quite. We’re not quite into the winning of people. Especially of the ultra-violent type.
As many Sydney-siders and SFF-goers might remember, there were very few flags flown last year for the Sydney Film Festival featuring Alex DeLarge (of A Clockwork Orange fame.) In fact, there were only a couple. And we have them all.
But we want to give them away! And we couldn’t decide whether they’d be best as cushions or deck chairs or tablecloths, so we’re going to leave it up to the winners!
There will be two competitions running concurrently, one on Facebook, one on Instagram. You can enter both if you’d like, but you’ll only win once. Gotta share the love.
The basic for both is the same: take a photo or create an image inspired by, referencing, or even featuring either the notion of ‘clockwork’ or ‘orange’ — or both. Simple.
On Facebook: like The Scallywag Society, post the image, and make sure you tag us.
On Instagram: follow The Scallywag Society, post the image, tag us and use the hashtag #AlexTheScallywag.
Winners will be decided by The Scallywag Society. Pro tip: we love a laugh, so if it’s funny or clever or anything like that you’ll probably have an edge. And keep it clean! We don’t need any Kubrick-inspired shenanigans violating the terms of service of either platform.
The competition is open to anyone around the world, but we will only ship within Australia. If you’re an international winner, you’ll need to pay for shipping. Sorry about that. But if you choose a cushion, we can just ship the cover and that won't cost much at all!
And the winners can decide if they would like their Alex DeLarge as an oversized cushion, a deck chair, or a tablecloth. Other requests may be considered, but at the discretion of The Scallywag Society.
The competition is open from 1 June 2015 to 5pm 15 June 2015 AEST. We’ll announce the winning entries on Facebook and Instagram and be in touch to organise the prizes.
So get snapping!
